My research project focuses on the gut-brain communication axis in the pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the most common form of human motor neuron disease. Outside the lab, I am engaged in programs that involve children, including volunteering at the Children’s Hospital, advocating for education of children in rural countries, and developing education curriculums on health for immigrant and refugee youth in Calgary.
